Screw Pile Underpinning for Foundation Waterproofing Projects

Opening up foundation trenches for exterior waterproofing exposes vulnerable concrete footings and underlying soil. If a settling foundation isn’t structurally stabilized first, ground movement will tear new waterproofing membranes and compromise weeping tile drainage over time. Our engineered helical piles and underpinning brackets lock shifting foundation walls into stable earth, so contractors can execute exterior waterproofing without structural risk.

Preventing Membrane Shearing and Waterproofing Failure

Applying high-end elastomeric waterproofing membranes, dimple boards, and weeping tiles to a moving foundation is a temporary fix. When subsoil settlement causes footings to sink or bow inward, the structural shearing force easily rips waterproof coatings and breaks drainage pipe joints. By underpinning the wall with helical piles before or during membrane installation, we permanently lock the concrete footing in place.

Trenching and Footing Support

Digging a deep trench along an existing foundation wall to expose the footings for weeping tile installation removes critical lateral soil pressure. On compromised or aging foundations, this excavation can cause footings to shift, rotate, or sink.

Installing helical piles alongside the foundation provides pinpoint vertical load support, allowing waterproofing crews to dig down to the footing base and install exterior drainage systems safely without risking structural collapse.

Site Coordination with Waterproofing Crews

  • Coordinate with Site Teams: We align with your waterproofing contractor to minimize the time exposed excavation trenches sit open to weather and wet soil.
  • Drive Piles in the Trench: Our compact hydraulic rigs enter the open pit to install helical piles and secure heavy-duty underpinning brackets beneath the footing.
  • Pass Off for Prep: The moment piles reach engineered load capacity, waterproofing technicians can start cleaning concrete, applying rubberized membranes, and installing weeping tile.

Stamped Engineering for Structural Underpinning and Drainage

Combining structural foundation repairs with exterior weeping tile and waterproofing requires proper municipal building permits across Ontario. We supply complete stamped engineered shop drawings upfront.

Following pile installation and footing bracket attachment, we issue an official letter of conformity. This documentation verifies that the underpinning complies with Ontario Building Code structural standards, giving your building inspector everything required for immediate sign-off.

I was with Trevor and his crew doing piles for a massive solar system and they got the job done in amazing time while ensuring precise drilling to the measurements I needed anytime I need more piles done for anymore jobs I am definitely giving them a ring and I would recommend them to any and everyone!!!

Trevor and his team from Diamond Tech Piles installed the helical piles for our deck and did an excellent job. They were professional, efficient, and clearly knew their work. The process involved some digging and machinery, but they took great care to minimize any impact and left the property in much better condition than we expected. We’re very happy with the results and would absolutely recommend Diamond Tech Piles to anyone needing helical pile installation.

Trevor ,Griffin and the crew were great. Installed 3.5” piles for a pavilion to be built. The conditions were not normal with roots, stones and access issues. They got the job done and were positive thru out the experience. Highly recommend

Very positive experience. Trevor was very responsive and polite - a real delight to work with. With his team, they drove helical piles around our existing pool for our new deck. We definitely ran into obstacles with rocks, buried cement, roots and the cement pool collar, however, they found great solutions. I have absolutely no hesitation with recommending Diamond Tech Piles - they are great!

Trevor and Zee installed 4 SP3 helical piles for us today for a gazebo. Saved our backs versus digging concrete piers, and gave us the peace of mind with the torque reports. It was great dealing with Trevor throughout the process, especially as a first time helical pile user who had a lot of questions. Highly recommend!

Trevor and the boys at diamond tech We’re an absolute pleasure to work with. Everything from start to finish was done right, Super easy to work with, and I would recommend them to anyone for their pile or deck rejects. Don’t bother shopping around, these are the guys you want working on your next backyard project.

The crew installed very large helical piles for us to build our cottage on. The owner Trevor was very responsive and got the job done by organizing a barg, to bring their equipment to our remote location. It was a great experience all around.

DiamondTech installed helical piles for a project we are working on, and they were fantastic from start to finish. Communication was excellent. Trevor was responsive and answered all of our questions thoroughly. His team's professionalism and efficiency made the entire process smooth and stress-free. We wouldn't hesitate to work with them again!

Trevor and his guys were awesome. Originally planned helical pile installation for late April, but when deck contractor schedule changed, they went above and beyond to get job done weeks sooner to assist. Thank you for your accommodation, very much appreciated!!

FAQs

If your foundation is settling, cracking, or bowing, applying waterproofing alone won’t stop wall movement. Installing helical piles while the trench is open underpins the footing so future shifting won’t tear your new waterproofing membrane.

Yes. Our compact installation machinery easily operates inside standard exterior waterproofing trenches to drive piles and attach underpinning brackets directly beneath exposed footings.

Unstable soils cause foundations and surrounding earth to sink, crushing or misaligning weeping tile pipes. Helical piles stabilize the footing and prevent soil settlement around new drainage lines.

Deep excavation removes lateral soil support, which can cause vulnerable footings to shift. Helical piles support the vertical structural load before or during excavation to guarantee zero footing settlement.

Municipalities typically require structural permit approvals when underpinning footings alongside waterproofing work. We supply stamped engineering shop drawings that cover the underpinning scope for your municipal permit application.

Our field technicians complete standard residential underpinning pile installations in 1 to 2 days inside the open trench, keeping your waterproofing crew moving without major schedule delays.
