Permit approval and final acceptance remain with Toronto Building and the professionals responsible for the project.

Toronto states that a deck more than 60 centimetres above the surrounding ground requires a building permit. A low, uncovered platform at or below that height may be exempt, but the design must still comply with zoning, setbacks and any other applicable rules. Covered porches and more complex deck projects should be reviewed through the City’s permit process.

Often, yes. We first look for a route that works with our compact hydraulic rigs, including narrow gates and side yards. When a backyard is completely enclosed and ground access is not practical, crane placement can be coordinated to lift suitable installation equipment into position.

They may be a useful low-excavation foundation option, but properties near slopes, ravines, watercourses or the bluff system require careful site-specific review. Additional geotechnical information, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority involvement, grading restrictions or other approvals may apply. Installation should not proceed until the engineering and approval path for the property is confirmed.

The foundation is not designed to stop automatically at a standard depth. If near-surface material does not provide the required response, extensions allow the pile to continue deeper. Yes. Because the pile itself is a steel foundation component and does not require a fresh concrete footing to cure, installations can often continue during freezing weather.
